The Gospel is no less timely and urgent today as it was in the day of Jesus. We often put off until tomorrow the important things of God. Let today be the day of faithfulness and ministry.------We should be encouraged by the selection of these men by Jesus. Can we not see much of ourselves in Simon -impetuous and quick-tempered- or James and John -the Sons of Thunder who argue about who is going to have the best seat in heaven-- Yet, the Holy Spirit sanctifies them to a calling and a life beyond their natural inclinations. They become leaders, evangelists, teachers, and martyrs.------It ought not surprise us that Jesus-s first call to discipleship was a call to become evangelists. These humble followers of Jesus are examples of Daniel-s teaching that -those who turn many to righteousness, shall shine like the stars forever and ever- -12-3-. May we faithfully follow as fishers of men.----II Timothy 2-2 - -The things you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.-
