Beginning in July 2020, increased interest in levels of M&A activity resulted in the Bureau of Competition’s Premerger Notification Office (PNO) publishing monthly figures for Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Act transactions. The latest monthly update from the PNO is for May 2022 and noted 226 reported transactions. This is the second-highest number of monthly reported transactions in the month of May between FY 2001 and FY 2022. However, it is lower than the reported 326 May transactions in the previous fiscal year of 2021.
