I recorded this emotional episode a day after learning that the incomparable, faith-fueled, spicy Latina, tell-it-like-it-is, wildly supportive, genuinely kind and passionate prayer warrior, former Marine, neuroscience-loving powerhouse speaker, coach, podcaster, bestselling author, and my friend, Rachel Luna, passed away on August 4th, 2025. 

To say Rachel has overcome some obstacles is an understatement. Despite the passing of both her parents from AIDS, battling an eating disorder and addictions, and beating triple negative breast cancer TWICE, she continued her commitment to serve others, bare her soul in hopes of helping us grow, and give all the glory to God. She was a loving wife and mom and devoted friend. I keep replaying the countless audios she’s sent me over the years, encouraging and challenging me in the best ways. She did that so well. 

Our faithful speaking and coaching community is rocked in disbelief. Please join us in praying for her family. My heart is broken but hopeful that her mission and legacy will live on.

Continuing the conversation from last episode with interrupting our negative thoughts, let’s talk about how we can stop that habit and create new ones that serve us better! 

Staying positive, while still living in reality where negative things are happening a lot for us lately, I’m focusing on being more intentional with my habits. That’s not always easy and certainly takes some effort, but it’s proving to be the very thing that’s keeping me going.

Inspired by a recent Mel Robbins podcast episode, where she talked about breaking the habit of immediately letting our negative thoughts spiral. I’ve definitely been practicing this concept for the last several months!

From “Why not me?” to “I need therapy!” With a third trip to urgent care and a potential cancer scare recently, it was time to call in extra support. 

While I’ve learned many strategies for dealing with anxiety-riddled situations in the past, I found a therapist who’s helping me cope now and I highly recommend it.

If ever you’re dealing with a difficult or challenging situation and need the motivation to get through it, this episode is for you! 

With the recent Palisades fires and all that has followed in the aftermath for our family and community, I’m reflecting on how I’ve overcome stressful trials in the past, which is often only 1% of effort at a time. 

A quick Google search of the word resilience suggests it’s “the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties.” In those tough moments, 1% may be all we’re capable of committing to, and it turns out…that’s enough!

Living on a mental and physical high these days after giving a talk for an awesome women’s group and receiving some exciting news from my physical therapist!

When life gets tough, how do you feel like you handle it? Do you go with the flow, pivot with confidence, and stay flexible? Or maybe it’s just the opposite? Resist change, stay stuck, or breakdown? 

While spending way too much time recently commuting on the 405 freeway and learning the side streets in our new neighborhood (post Palisades fire relocations), I noticed something interesting about Google Maps. More specifically, my focus is on the calm, cool nature of Boss Lady Betty, who navigates our drive in my car. “She” has some qualities I’d like to possess, but I’m still a work in progress. 

When it comes time to “reroute,” let’s keep that as simple as possible, shall we? Betty would be proud.
