Hello and welcome to the Doorstep Mixtape Podcast, featuring your host, me, Tim Lee
Between 2017 and 2020, I hosted a weekly radio show which presented the very best local musicians from the Northwest of England. Each week a special guest would discuss their process of making music and then play some live songs in the studio.
Looking back on the wonderful time I had on the show, I couldn’t let these interviews gather dust.
So in this podcast I delve into the archive to bring you some of my favourite interviews and live performances.
Whether you are local to the Northwest of England music scene or not, I think you will find plenty of fascinating nuggets from my guests about how they are inspired to create music and the the musicians who inspire them.
So sit back, relax, grab yourself a glass of something medicinal and listen to a laid back chat about how songwriters do what they do.
For this episode, we're back in 2018 to talk to Wigan acoustic duo The Huers.

Back in 2017, I was privileged to interview one of the most talented and thoroughly nice chaps I’ve ever been lucky enough to meet, Mr. Phil Maddocks.
Phil sadly passed away in 2021, just 4 years after this interview and at far too young an age. This just makes listening back to this chat even more poignant.
This show is dedicated to his partner Lynne, who also appears on the show, everyone who knew and loved Phil, and of course to the memory of the great man himself. I hope you enjoy the show.
