October 23 in Calgary, Alberta Ballet will invite audiences to their take on one of the most classic horror tales of all time, the story of Frankenstein, as written by Mary Shelley. The story has become indelibly stamped in the popular consciousness. In two centuries of the tale existing, many different creators have tried to tell and re-tell the story of man and science gone afoul. Alberta Ballet now takes its turn under choreographer, Jean Grand-Maitre, with his previous projects for the company including some of the most internationally acclaimed projects the Ballet has ever undertaken, incorporating the work of k.d. lang, Elton John, and Joni Mitchell. Frankenstein runs in Calgary Oct 23 - 26 at the Jubilee Auditorium and then switches to Edmonton's Jubilee Auditorium for a run from Halloween night to November 2. Russell Bowers speaks with Jean Grand-Maitre after a flavour of the story for Alberta Ballet's "Frankenstein."
