Welcome to another episode of #TipTopTipsEdu!
In this episode, we are joined by Hong Kong-based educator, Tim Evans! Originally from Wales, Tim is now the Educational Technology Coordinator at Stamford American School in Hong Kong. As an Apple Distinguished Educator, Microsoft Innovative Educator and Google Certified Innovator, Tim is always on the look-out for the latest technology that can support teaching and learning, and he is passionate about connecting, collaborating and sharing with others. Having spoken and led learning at several events around Asia and as an author on the Global Edtech team, Tim understands the importance of sharing experiences and learning from peers (especially in the ever-changing world of technology!) so he is a perfect guest to have on #TipTopTipsEdu.
With so many great experiences throughout his career, in this episode, Tim draws upon his vast experience and shares lots of ideas around the following five questions:
- As someone who helps coordinate ICT in your school, in Primary you look at cross-curricular opportunities. How do you go about finding cross-curricular opportunities for embedding ICT and Computing and can you share some examples of where this has been successful?
- As someone who works in a school where Google Workspace for Education is your core ecosystem, what tips would you give someone new to Google relating to teaching and learning to help them hit the ground running?
- Jamboard is a relatively recent tool to the arsenal available from Google – can you share some tips for its use?
- You share quite a few tips and ideas on social media… What got you into that and do you have any tips for others who might like to follow in your footsteps?
- It’s almost the end of the academic year – how do you go about closing things down with edtech in your school and subsequently preparing for next year? Do you have induction? How do you keep work in Google Classroom available for next year and ensure that students still have access to all of their examples of learning?
