Tips to Replace Laundry Room Decals Without Damaging Paint

Listen Later

Vinyl decals are one of the simplest and most desirable products available in the market out there. They not only make your house interior look beautiful, but they will also make it easy for you to pick the best products. Also, when it comes to removing the laundry room decals, then you need to be aware and follow all the protocols. That’s because you can end up even removing or scraping the paint from the walls of your house.

Well, this is something that you would not want to happen. No worries, here we will guide you through the tips and tricks to remove the wall decals of your laundry room safely. For more information, keep reading!

Warm the vinyl with a hairdryer

You need to start turning on your hairdryer on low power and gently run it back and forth over the wall decal. Also, the heat from the hairdryer will weaken the adhesive on the vinyl wall decals. This makes it less likely to remove any paint when you take off the laundry wall quotes from the wall. You should focus on the corners first because those areas are easy to peel off the decal easily.

Peel the corner with tweezers

Another method is to use a pair of tweezers on the fingernails and gently peel the back one corner of the wall decal. Once the corner of the wall decal is peeled back, you need to check to see if any paint is sticking to the vinyl or not.

Suppose there is any paint present; you need to heat it for a few more minutes using a hairdryer. If you observe that no paint is removed, peel back the rest of the decal and slowly reheat the sections with a hairdryer as needed.

Remove leftover adhesive

To remove any adhesive remnants from the wall decal, gently brush the wall with warm, soapy water. Scrubbing too hard can harm the paint, especially if the vinyl laundry quotes cleanup already compromised it.

If the adhesive doesn’t come off, you’ll need to use a specialized adhesive remover (be sure to try it prior to making sure it won’t harm the paint). If you’re removing a decal from a windshield or glass door, this step is very critical because traces of remaining glue are visible.

What should you do if the wall decal damages the paint?

It’s quite unlikely that your paint will be harmed if you used high-quality vinyl for your sticker and removed it using the techniques outlined above. It does, however, happen from time to time. If the wall decal destroys a piece of your wall’s paint, scrape away any flakes or curls with a scraper.

You can also use sandpaper if your wall isn’t textured. Then, using a similar color of paint, repaint the piece. You can also hide the damage by placing a poster or rearranging furniture as a low-cost alternative.
