WEEK 3 - FORGIVENESS FATIGUE
SERIES: TIRED (a series about finding rest)
Jesus said, “Come to me... and I’ll give you rest.”
WHAT DO I KNOW ABOUT FORGIVENESS?
I want it ( The wicked servant)
I need it ( We are all sinners )
But it’s hard to give it ( The wicked servant )
EXAMPLES: Forgiveness sets you free to be able to move in forward motion - No one or nothing can have control over you –Why? Because you have been given the power to forgive like Christ has forgiven you – AJ
PARENTING FATIGUE
(Prov. 22:15) - Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child. ... So it shouldn’t surprise us that our children will struggle with the same sins again and again.
FORGIVENESS FATIGUE
Matthew 18? Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” “If you love me, then you can’t stop forgiving....”
FORGIVENESS EMPOWERMENT
James 1:5-8 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
JESUS EMPOWERS YOU TO FORGIVE
JOHN 17: 26 I have made you known to them (the disciples), and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
QUOTE: We can have freedom if we understand that forgiveness has nothing to do with your past or the future you can’t control .... Forgiveness will allow you to be Free and to live in the moment. We can’t go back...or why should we waste precious time worrying about what’s next?
Sometimes People spend so much time living in the past hurts that they end up creating a prison built with unforgiveness with their own hurts, hang ups and past pain. - Natalie
REMEMBER THIS ABOUT FORGIVENESS:
I WANT IT - (The wicked servant)
Matthew 18:21-35 23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold[b] was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. 26 “At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.
I NEED IT - Matthew 18 :21-22 - Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
IT’S HARD TO GIVE IT
( The wicked servant ) 28 “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins.[c] He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.
29 “His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’ 30 “But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.
32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ 34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”
JESUS MATTHEW 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
WE WANT GOD TO DO TO US WHAT WE ARE NOT WILLING TO DO FOR OTHERS – Pastor Marcus
APPLICATION:
1.) Ask WHO do I need to forgive? (Forgiveness is the GIFT OF FREEDOM I give to myself. When I forgive others; I AM FREE.

The Lords Prayer Jesus said, “This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. AMEN
