A Great Read!
As a history nerd, the Titanic has always held a special spot in my heart. As a kid, I watched the initial finding when it was aired on TV and soaked up any movie, story, or documentary I could find. Needless to say, when I saw this I jumped at the chance to read it.
I found the interviews both intriguing and inspiring. Thereâs something special about hearing opinions from those that have studied a moment in history. For me, itâs like being told a story, so Iâm attentive from the outset. The interviews collected here are an amazing resource and one any history buff would enjoy reading.
As much as I enjoyed the interviews, my favorite part was the authorâs descriptive style when taking the reader through the ship. I could smell the varnish and hear the sounds around me. Most of the time reading a historical description is similar to reading stereo instructions, so you can imagine my joy at having the Titanic brought to life to the point I could smell the varnish and hear the sounds around me. That, in my opinion, stole the show from the interviews, but not by much.
