Microaggressions diminish the value of somebody's heritage, but what do you do when the person that is saying these things don't understand that they're being that way? It is important to understand the background and heritage of one's culture(s) to bridge those differences. It's also important to be respectful of somebody's background or differences if you don't understand or have any experience with them.
