Mickaël Mottet’s album Glover's Mistake is his first release under his own name, at 41 and after a good dozen records under various pseudonyms. The range of bands (Angil and the still active Lion in Bed, to name just two) which Mottet was a member of have all been acclaimed by amateurs of his “auteur pop songs”, to quote Les Inrockuptibles. The diversity of this community of demanding aficionados speaks volumes: from Drowned in Sound to Uncut’s Martin Aston, through WFMU, Rock Sound, Pop Matters, The List, BBC’s Mark Russell and Robert Sandall... Everyone of them agrees that Mottet’s pop songs have been crafted from a unique formula since his first record released by Megaphone (Teaser for Matter, 2004) and second one, which came out on Chemikal Underground, Oulipo Saliva (2007).
