On this episode of the Totally Necessary Wrestling Podcast we provide a review for the WWE TLC 2018 PPV. We also welcome Jack Hennessey to the podcast for the first time as he does call in to provide his thoughts on the PPV.
TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs (2018) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view event and WWE Network event produced by WWE for their Rawand SmackDown brands. It took place on December 16, 2018, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. It was the tenth event promoted under the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs chronology and the first since 2010's TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs to be dual-branded.
Twelve matches were contested at the event, including two on the pre-show. In the main event, Asuka defeated Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in the first-ever women's triple threat Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match to capture the SmackDown Women's Championship, which was also the first time the title was featured in the main event match of a WWE pay-per-view. In the penultimate match, Dean Ambrose defeated Seth Rollins to win the Intercontinental Championship. On the undercard, Daniel Bryan defeated AJ Styles to retain the WWE Championship, Ronda Rousey defeated Nia Jax to retain the Raw Women's Championship, and Braun Strowman defeated Acting Raw General Manager Baron Corbin in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match to earn a Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble and stripping Corbin of all authoritative power.
