Part 3: Communicate the Gospel

1) Jesus Came…To Preach:

1st PRINCIPLE – followers of Jesus are COMMUNICATORS.

38 And he said to them, "Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out." Mark 1:38 (ESV)

16 For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! 1 Corinthians 9:16 (ESV)

"29Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?" (Jeremiah 23:29, ESV)

THIS MEANS…

· I need to be AUDIO VISUAL

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

· I need to communicate the RIGHT MESSAGE.

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God…14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, Mark 1:1,14 (ESV)

· The Gospel is GOOD NEWS.

18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19 (ESV)

· The Gospel story is the DEATH, BURIAL & RESURRECTION of Jesus.

1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand…3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 1 Corinthians 15:1, 3-5 (ESV)

· The Gospel is about FORGIVENESS & RECONCILIATION between God & man.

28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26:28 (NIV)

· The Gospel is also about everyday APPLICATION.

20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20 (ESV)

3 to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified. 4 They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations. Isaiah 61:3-4 (ESV)

2) Jesus came …to Call Sinners:

THIS MEANS…

· I must be LOOKING for those who need Jesus.

10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." Luke 19:10 (ESV)

· I must be UNDERSTAND my culture to reach the lost.

34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Luke 7:34 (ESV)

· I have to lovingly tell people the GOSPEL TRUTH.

17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." Mark 2:17 (ESV)
