Have you ever tried to forgive someone & yet unable to forget about that past experience? Every time some or the other way that incident is brought to your attention you might still get uncomfortable or unhappy because it was an unpleasant experience. Even though you tell yourself that 'I have forgiven that person & I don't think of that unpleasant situation anymore', why hasn't that incident faded out of your memory yet? Can you relate to such kind of situations? Believe me, we all have such experiences in our life. Forgiving is a powerful and liberating act. When we forgive, we release ourselves from the burden of carrying negative emotions. Holding onto grudges and resentment can eat away at our peace of mind, causing emotional distress and even physical health issues. By forgiving, we free ourselves from the chains of the past and open our hearts to healing and growth. Forgiveness does not mean excusing the wrongdoer's actions. It does not imply that the hurtful behavior was acceptable or forgotten. Instead, it acknowledges the pain but chooses not to let it define us or control our lives. It takes strength and courage to forgive, as it requires accepting our emotions head-on and finding empathy for the person who harmed us in any way. Now, when we consider forgetting, the dynamics change. While forgiveness is a conscious decision, forgetting is not something we can control directly. The idea of "forgetting" in this context might be better understood as the gradual fading of the emotional intensity attached to that particular unpleasant memory. Through forgiveness and the passage of time, the emotional charge of painful memories may diminish naturally. As we heal and move forward, the memories lose their power to trigger intense negative emotions, allowing us to focus on positive aspects of life mindfully, thus coming back to present moment. In this episode we have shared a rarely told story of Ravana about forgiveness. The first step towards the path of forgiveness & healing is to forgive yourself. Tune in to this episode to heal & grow.
