A worthy read for Louis L'Amour fans
Stan Lynde paints pictures with words even better than Louis L'Amour and his characters and the settings come across authentically and engagingly. Excellent read for those who like a little mining history thrown in with their Westerns, and a great characterization of Butte, MT as it must have been in the early copper mining days.
Good fun to read these
I purchased this on audible.com because the author is such a good reader, too. Fun to read this series about early day Montana.
Stan Lynde delivers another spellbinding western novel.
As a long time fan of Mr. Lynde's western fiction I have been anxiously awaiting his latest novel and having now devoured "To Kill a Copper King" I'm temporarily satisfied.
This is something of a departure for Mr. Lynde in that the mystery aspects of the story are emphasized to a greater extent than previous novels starring Merlin Fanshaw. That's not to say that character development or action suffer, far from it. Mr. Lynde has crafted a novel that is full of interesting and realistic characters who draw you in and make you care about their fates.
The atmosphere and wonderful descriptions of Montana in 1888 are vibrant and paint such a detailed and fascinating picture that you'll feel like you're there. You won't be disappointed.
