To Kill A Mockingbird: The Gregory Peck Run

The dailies are in and we’re watching To Kill A Mockingbird! Our 30th episode and 3rd of the Gregory Peck run, this adaptation of the American classic novel of the same name is a household name — for good reason. This is one of Peck's more well known roles. He plays Atticus Finch a widowed lawyer in Depression-era Alabama, defends a Black man against an undeserved rape charge, and tries to educate his young children against prejudice.


So, pour yourself a Tequila Mockingbird (I know, I know, be more predictable) and hit play — Brewvies is back!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of tequila
  • 3/4 ounces of lime juice
  • 3/4 ounces of agave syrup
  • 1 slice of jalapeno
  • 3 1-inch watermelon cubes
  • Instructions

    1. Start by muddling the watermelon cubes and jalapeno slice together in the bottom of a chilled shaker. Don't mash too hard. You only need to extract the juices.

    2. Next, add the tequila, lime juice, and agave syrup.

    3. Then add the ice. Shake the shaker vigorously for about 30 seconds. When the outside is covered in beads of cool condensation, the drink is ready.

    4. Use a fine strainer to block any bits of watermelon and jalapeno. Generally, Tequila Mockingbirds are served either on the rocks or in a chilled highball glass.
