To Please God

1 Thessalonians 2:1-16 NLT

Focus verse

1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT

 Galatians 1:10 NLT

Premise

- There is an aspect of our walk with Christ Jesus that must be periodically and intentionally assessed and that is, that everything we do, say, and live must please Him. Pleasing God should be our goal and chief mission in the context of relationship with the father. Essentially our lives must please God as we press toward the day of His return.

Fundamental Truths

1. The absence of demonstrative faith is the absence of pleasure when pertaining to God being satisfied with us. Faith and only faith initiates the journey of perpetual satisfaction.

 Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

Genesis 15:6 NLT

2. Pleasing God derives from a place of pure worship that is born out of sacrificial living.

Romans 12:1 NIV

Romans 8:12-14 NLT

3. Carnality breeds conformity to sin while the spirit breeds transformation unto righteousness. It is impossible to worship, glorify, or even please God from the flesh. It must come from the spirit.

Romans 8:8 AMP

John 3:6 NKJV

John 4:23-24 NKJV

4. Pleasing God should be intentional. Choosing to do what pleases the father is the posture of a son (child of God). Our motive, intent, and nature is revealed through our actions toward the father.

John 8:29 NKJV

2 Corinthians 5:9 NLT

5. Answered prayer is guaranteed when pleasing God is priority.

I John 3:22 NKJV

John 15:7-8 NLT

Scriptural Insight

1. The reason behind God trusting you with an assignment, skill, talent, purpose, or anointing is never to win the approval of people but to glorify Him.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT a

2. Your “why” behind what you do determines who is satisfied by it. If the goal is to please God then your actions must be geared towards fulfilling what is meaningful to Him.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 b

3. It is God and only God who can see the true motives of the heart but it is the word of God that reveals. Therefore the word of God should guide our hearts, mind, intent, and motives in order to bring satisfaction to God.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 NLT

Proverbs 16:2 TPT

Hebrews 4:12 NKJV

Conclusion

”That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.“ Ecclesiastes 12:13 NLT
