We are all familiar with the passage in today’s gospel, “the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve”. As Christians, we are also called to serve others. We do this by helping people know Jesus, allowing them to experience His goodness and love. In practical terms, we should be making a positive difference in people’s lives. There is no room for hate, division, or discrimination. 

Jesus, as the ultimate example of serving others, died for us. So serving others is not always easy. There will be struggles and challenges and pain. During these times, we must remember that our sacrifices can be a source of hope for others. We can be the light of Christ that shines into the darkest depths of their existence. If serving others brings us some suffering, we must remember that we are suffering for the sake of His kingdom. 

Living our lives in service to others can dispel the clouds of hate around us. As others see the face of Jesus through our actions, they may be inspired to do the same.
