(WEAA) —Isaiah Brown, a 32-year-old Black man, was shot by a Spotsylvania County Sheriff's deputy while on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. on April 21, about an hour after the same deputy gave Brown a ride after his vehicle broke down. According to CNN , David Haynes, the family's attorney says the deputy opened fire after mistaking Brown's cordless phone for a gun.
