In an age when survivors are calling institutions (including churches and denominational systems) to acknowledge wrongdoing, pursue truth, protect the vulnerable, and hold perpetrators and complicit leaders accountable, we believe these difficult conversations must be approached with courage, compassion, discernment, truth, and appropriate due process.

Through biblical, psychological, physiological, and whole-person lenses, this episode examines how abuse can wound the heart, soul, mind, and strength of those affected, shaping emotions, spiritual trust, thought patterns, relationships, and even the body’s response to perceived danger. Jacob and Sarah discuss how past wounds can surface through triggers, fear, hypervigilance, distrust, or physiological reactions; how those responses can be recognized without automatically becoming accusations; and practical ways to re-center, ground, discern what is happening in the present, and respond wisely.
