On Pentecost Thursday, Holy Church highlights the Gift of Fortitude—divine strength to endure trials and act with courage for Christ. As Philip brought joy to Samaria through preaching and miracles, so Fortitude bears fruit in apostolic joy. The Twelve went forth with nothing but faith, strengthened by this gift. Fortitude enables martyrdom, perseverance, and heroic virtue. Without it, the world grows restless; with it, the soul finds peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
