St Bartholomew, the guileless Apostle, confessed Christ as Son of God and sealed his witness in martyrdom. Today’s commemoration of the Eleventh Sunday reminds us that the same Lord who saw him under the fig tree also opens ears and looses tongues: Ephpheta, be opened.
