Before Saint Wilfrid brought the Gospel publicly to the South Saxons, Saint Lewinna had already confessed Christ in hidden fidelity and sealed that confession with her blood. Her feast teaches that the conversion of peoples begins with solitary souls who possess Christ as the pearl of great price and remain faithful even when no harvest can yet be seen.
