St Praxedes, a first-century Roman virgin descended from Pudens, sheltered Christians, buried martyrs, and gave all for Christ. Raised in an apostolic household, she lived St Paul’s counsel: unmarried, wholly devoted to the Lord. Her life was a hidden martyrdom of charity, reflecting the Gospel’s pearl of great price. In a corrupt world, her purity and love shine as a prophetic sign of the Kingdom. May we, like her, give all to possess Christ.
