St. Robert Bellarmine (1542–1621) was a Jesuit cardinal, theologian, and Doctor of the Church. A key figure in the Counter-Reformation, he defended Catholic doctrine against Protestantism, helped implement the reforms of the Council of Trent, and authored influential catechisms. Known for his learning, humility, and holiness, he served as bishop and papal adviser. He died in 1621 and was canonized in 1930. His feast on May 13 coincides with the first apparition at Fatima.
