Good morning, Kansas City! This is your Weather Warrior coming to you with a bone-chilling update that'll make you want to hibernate.
We're looking at an arctic blast that's turning Kansas City into a deep freezer. Right now, we've got some serious winter warnings in effect an Extreme Cold Watch, a Cold Weather Advisory, and a Winter Storm Warning. Buckle up, folks winter is not just coming, it's here with a vengeance!
Tonight, expect temperatures plummeting to negative 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chill values will make it feel like negative 12 to negative 17 degrees. Brace yourself for northeast winds around 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 23 miles per hour. There's a 30 percent chance of snow before 5 am, so keep those windshield scrapers handy.
Tuesday is going to be a snow globe day. Expect snow mainly after noon, with temperatures barely reaching 6 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chill will hover between negative 10 and negative 20 degrees. We're looking at potentially 1 to 3 inches of fresh snow perfect for building tiny, freezing snowmen.
Wednesday will offer a slight reprieve with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 8 degrees Fahrenheit. By Thursday, we'll see some sunshine with temperatures climbing to a whopping 11 degrees Fahrenheit.
The weekend looks more promising. Saturday will bring us a sunny day with temperatures near 36 degrees Fahrenheit, and Sunday might even hit 47 degrees Fahrenheit. It's like Mother Nature is teasing us with a glimpse of spring.
