Good morning, Kansas City! This is your Weather Warrior coming to you with a bone-chilling forecast that'll make you want to hibernate.
We've got an Extreme Cold Warning in effect, so buckle up for some seriously frosty conditions! Overnight, temperatures are going to plummet to negative 11 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind chill values will make it feel like negative 20 to negative 25 degrees. Bundle up like you're auditioning for a polar expedition!
Thursday brings a day of sunshine but don't let that fool you. The high will creep up to a measly 12 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chill values between negative 16 and negative 26 degrees. Northwest winds will be dancing around 6 to 8 miles per hour, just enough to add some extra bite to the cold.
The weekend looks more promising. Saturday will see temperatures climbing to a relatively balmy 37 degrees, and Sunday will treat us to a practically tropical 48 degrees Fahrenheit. By Monday, we're looking at a near-60-degree day that'll have everyone peeling off their winter layers.
Quick safety tip: Layer up, protect exposed skin, and limit time outdoors during these extreme cold conditions. Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and those with limited mobility.
