Good morning, Minneapolis! Bundle up because winter is giving us a serious cold shoulder today.
Let's break down this arctic blast we're experiencing. Overnight, temperatures are plummeting to negative 9 degrees Farenheit, with wind chill values dropping to a bone-chilling negative 20. Northwest winds will be whispering around 5 miles per hour, so those aren't helping our warmth situation.
Thursday looks sunny but deceptively cold - we're talking a high of just 6 degrees Farenheit. Wind chill will make it feel like negative 22. Northwest winds will switch to southwest in the afternoon, giving us a tiny hint of variety in this freezing forecast.
Thursday night brings mostly clear skies with temperatures dipping to negative 3 degrees Farenheit. Expect a light south southeast breeze around 5 miles per hour.
Friday gets interesting with snow expected after 1 pm. We're looking at temperatures climbing to a whopping 24 degrees Farenheit with an 80 percent chance of precipitation. Expect about 1 to 2 inches of fresh powder.
The weekend continues the winter theme with mostly cloudy skies, occasional snow chances, and temperatures hovering in the teens and low twenties. Sunday and Washington's Birthday will be mostly sunny but incredibly cold, with highs barely reaching 4 degrees Farenheit.
Next week looks similar - cold, mostly sunny days with temperatures struggling to reach 7 degrees Farenheit.
