Bio:
Tom Bisio began his study of the martial arts at age 14, achieving a BlackBelt in Isshin Kempo. He later trained in the Filipino Martial arts formany years before going on study to Chinese medicine and internalmartial arts. Tom made numerous trips to China and South East Asiawhere he studied both medicine and martial arts with many differentmasters. Tom has taught martial arts since 1979. During that time, heapprenticed with Chinese herbalists and experts in acupuncture, qigong, Chinese Medical massage (Tui Na) and bonesetting (ZhengGu). He went on to become a licensed practitioner of traditionalChinese medicine and for many years a busy clinic specializing intrauma, Chinese sports medicine, and orthopedic conditions.
Tom is the founder of New York Internal Arts (NYIA) and Internal ArtsInternational (IAI). These organizations teach and promote theChinese Internal Arts of Ba Gua Zhang and Xing Yi Quan and theirconnections to both Chinese medicine and the healing arts. NYIA andIAI offer classes and both live and online seminars in Qi Gong andNei Gong, Internal Martial Arts, Daoist Meditation, worldwide. In 2015he founded Practical Chinese Medicine, in order to create a newteaching method and curriculum aimed at imparting practical clinicalskills in traditional Chinese medicine.
Tom is the author of the popular book, A Tooth From the Tiger’sMouth: How to Treat Your Injuries with Powerful Healing Secrets ofthe Great Chinese Warriors (Simon and Schuster) Zheng Gu Tui Na:A Chinese Medical Massage Textbook, which he co-authored withFrank Butler. He has also written and collaborated on more than 18books on Ba Gua Zhang, Xing Yi Quan Daoist Meditation and NeiGong.
