Everyone has a story, it's just that some are more interesting than others. Such is the case of educator, mentor and Hall of Fame basketball coach Tom Rettig. We've been exploring his career in the class room and on the hardwood through the years. In this episode we talk about what was essentially a crescendo on his time as the Tippecanoe High School Red Devils Girls coach. A pair of good, competitive and lively teams that, like many of his other signature teams overcame struggles, a tough schedule and got better as the year went on. The seasons of 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 both were 15 and 17-win campaigns respectively, the latter winning 12-stright until beaten in the tournament. It also includes the period of time in transitioning out of the SRC to the Central Buckeye Conference and Tipp winning it the first year with a perfect (10-0) record in league play.
