The Scarlet Spotlight is happy to be joined by former Rutgers men's basketball head coach Tom Young on Episode 54 of the podcast. Young, who led the Scarlet Knights from 1973-1985, discusses his playing days at Maryland and the start of his coaching career in the DC area. He notes how outside the box it was to come to RU in '73, how the early teams found chemistry and why the '75-'76 team was so special. Young conveys how the program navigated the move into the RAC, details more great teams in the late 70s and early 80s and explains why conference realignment hurt Rutgers basketball in the mid-80s. After the interview, Danny and Jon recap Young's thoughts on the state of the current basketball program and plug future episodes.
