Tomás- Scenario ‘23

Listen Later

Growing up in a family that valued blood relatives more than anything, it was kinda difficult being a stepchild. I felt like a second-class citizen a lot of the times due to rude uncles and aunts.
I guess being the second youngest, it affected me on a deeper level.... especially when my stepfather's and my mother's new son was added “…and it was the end of us.”
But, that’s only the first half of the song. It also chronicles my failed marriage on Summer Creek Court, in Bakersfield. When we were good, we were really good. (Sigh).
Then, “on a street named for arbors”, when my son was suddenly killed in a freak accident, “There’s a man who is broken”, that was me. I am still, it’s a hard road …
Yeah, this song covers a lot.
——
I try and speak the truth through my music, it is not my aim or goal to hurt anybody, it’s just what I write usually comes from my life experiences… and this just happens to be one of them.

SCENARIO '23
In Old Santa Barbara
On a street labeled 'Nowhere'
In a car that was driven
By a man who fell for her
Headed in a new direction
With her and her four children
From an all-too-wrong first marriage
To an all-too-wrong place to go
Soon they'll know ...
Watch the turns
Keep your eyes on the road ...
For this Scenario
In Old Paso Robles
In a house across from Grandma's
In a name that was borrowed
From a family who didn't want us
She had another baby
And it was the end of us
Cause his family would remind us
That he was the one they wanted
Yes I know
Here we go
Watch the turns
Keep your eyes on the road ...
For this Scenario
Cause it seems that life is full of turns
Unknown roads where
Forests burn
People blind to all they don't wanna know
But another day is another chance
To make things right and to dance that dance
And everything will fall in line, you know ...
The Scenario
In Southern California
On a street named for Summer
In a house full of happiness
And three little wonders
I made sure all my children knew what was laid out before us
Two parents who loved them
In a world that couldn't touch us
This I know
Well, here we go
Watch the turns
And keep your eyes on the road ...
For this Scenario
Cause you know that life is full of turns
Glance away and soon you learn
It doesn't matter all the safety you bestow
Cause another day is another chance
To take a risk and skip the dance
And one by one don't they fade away or go ...
For this Scenario
In Old California
On a street named for arbors
Is a place that is rented
In a city made for starters
There's a man who is broken
In a life that is harder
Than he ever wanted
And that he really wishes from he could go
But, we know
Watch the turns
Keep your eyes on the road
