Sermon 756A
Revelation, the Nicolaitans, and the Call to Reject Worldly Deception
Introducing an Archived Revelation Message
In this archived message from Pastor Tony Alamo, presented by Help from Christ Ministries, Alamo introduces program number 756 and says he will be teaching from the Book of Revelation. He states that Revelation connects the entire Bible and says that it cannot be properly understood unless a person is “in the Spirit” and familiar with the rest of Scripture. He opens with a prayer asking God to continue revealing truth, rebuke Satan, protect listeners, provide healing, prosperity, clean water, and help for people who feel trapped or without escape.
Music, Guidance, and the Spirit of the Lord
After the opening prayer, the program includes one of Alamo’s early church recordings, a song about feeling the hand of the Lord and not walking alone. Alamo uses the song as a bridge into his teaching, saying he can feel the Spirit of the Lord guiding him, telling him where to go, what to avoid, what to say, and how not to fall into false doctrine. This sets the tone for the rest of the sermon, which focuses heavily on spiritual discernment, resisting deception, and remaining separate from influences he views as worldly or corrupt.
Revelation and the Nicolaitans
The main teaching centers on Revelation chapter 2 and the references to the Nicolaitans. Alamo discusses the message to the church of Ephesus, especially the verse commending the church for hating the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which he says Jesus also hates. He rejects the idea that the Nicolaitans were only a first-century sect, arguing instead that they represent an ongoing spirit of false doctrine, persecution, worldliness, and opposition to true Christians. Alamo says their “deeds” include efforts to intimidate believers, pull Christians into a one-world religious system, and distract the church from Christ.
False Doctrine, Persecution, and Worldliness
Alamo expands the meaning of the Nicolaitans to include what he sees as false religion, government persecution, court systems, false accusations, worldly entertainment, idolatry, sports, and doctrines or cultural forces that pull people away from God. He also connects the Nicolaitans to media claims he says deny Christ’s resurrection or undermine biblical truth. Throughout this section, he argues that Satan uses accusations, temptation, clever stories, and public institutions to deceive the world and persecute believers, while Christ’s true people must reject those influences and remain focused on salvation and soul-winning.
Alamo’s Personal Grievances and Moral Warnings
The sermon also includes Alamo’s own claims of persecution, including references to government actions, seized property, court cases, prison, accusations against him, and his belief that Christians are being targeted for speaking against sin. He discusses homosexuality, same-sex marriage, abortion, clergy abuse, and sexual immorality in strongly condemnatory terms, framing them as examples of the deeds of the Nicolaitans. He repeatedly says that God hates these deeds and that people must repent rather than merely apologize or continue in sin.
Salvation Prayer and Closing Invitation
The message ends with Alamo leading listeners in a salvation prayer. He asks listeners to confess that they are sinners, believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, believe that Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins, and invite Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit into their hearts. He then tells listeners to praise and thank the Lord for saving their souls. The program closes with instructions for obtaining a copy of program number 756 through Alamo Ministries and with Help from Christ Ministries inviting listeners to contact them if the message encouraged them.
