Tony Petelos served as Hoover, Alabama mayor from 2004 until 2011. In 2011, he became the first county manager and CEO of Jefferson County, overseeing the largest municipal bankruptcy in United States history. In 2020, Jefferson County exited the resulting consent decree from the bankruptcy. He retired from the county manager position in 2021.
