Lately, I've taken to encouraging my children to "Make other people's lives easier" in an effort to help them think through how their actions affect others, and to help them identify and root out selfishness in their lives. As I've meditated on it more and more, I see the usefulness and necessity of this idea in the mature spiritual life, and in effective evangelism in an increasingly non-religious society.
