Scripture:
“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.” — Revelation 3:15
Comfort is something we naturally seek.
A comfortable routine. A steady rhythm. A sense of ease in life. And in many ways, comfort is a gift.
But comfort in the wrong place can become dangerous.
In this episode of Digging Another Well, we reflect on Jesus’ words to the church at Laodicea in Revelation 3. They were not openly rebellious. They had not abandoned their faith. They were simply… comfortable. Settled. Going through the motions without urgency or passion.
And Jesus said that was not enough.
Lukewarm faith can be deceptive. It feels safe. It feels stable. But it can quietly dull our awareness and distance our hearts from God.
Like someone unaware of danger because they are at ease, we can drift without noticing. Comfort can replace conviction. Familiarity can replace closeness.
This devotional is not a message of condemnation — it is a call to wake up. God is not looking for perfection, but He is looking for passion.
Even a small, genuine fire is better than a comfortable indifference.
