We and our work with clients talk a lot about the importance of curiosity versus judgment.
In today's episode, we talk a little bit about the good side of judgment and the bad side of judgment. And how we can kind of find ourselves more balanced around how we look at the subject.
As we've always stressed in our podcast, exhaust curiosity before you go to judgment.
The more curious you are about something means you're gathering more information. The more you learn about something, the better you'll be at making a decision. In this case, making a judgment.
Staying curious allows you to figure out what your motivations are. And that your motivations may be different than from the person or group you are judging.
You have to actually engage your brain a little bit and think about why you are feeling that way about that person or group. Think it through. You're navigating your own emotions first. Then, you're navigating that other person's emotions.
In each episode, Jeff and Eric will talk about what emotional intelligence, or understanding your emotions, can do for you in your daily and work life. For more information, contact Eric or Jeff at [email protected], or go to their website, Spirit of EQ.
