Our stories this week may be too spooky for human consumption, so listener beware!
Dreia starts us off with the tale of the Mount Washington Hotel in Carroll, NH. This picturesque and historic hotel was built in 1900 by Joseph Stickney. A year after the hotel opened, Stickney died, leaving his wife Carolyn to live in the hotel. Carolyn never really left the hotel after her death and is said to haunt it to this day – which makes for fun photos and even more fun reviews on Trip Advisor.
Maggie details the story of the missing lighthouse keepers of Flannan Isle. Flannan Isle is rumored to be inhabited by faeries and/or giant birds and it is believed that on one not so stormy night in December 1900, the three lighthouse keepers of Flannan Isle were spirited away by the supernatural residents. There may be a more rational explanation, but we prefer to stick with faeries.
Come visit New Hampshire and Princess Carolyn’s ghost at the Mount Washington Hotel and also never give a faerie your name.
