علی حجویری گیارہویں صدی عیسوی کے فارس سے تعلق رکھنے والے ایک صوفی عالم تھے، اور پورے جنوبی ایشیاء میں اسلام کو پھیلانے والے ایک محسن کے طور پر معروف ہیں۔

آج، ان کا مزار لاہور کی سب سے بڑی زیارت گاہ ہے، اور مسلمان زائرین کی ایک بہت عام مقدس زیارت گاہ ہے۔

مزید یہ کہ آپ نے فارس اور خراساں کے تصوف کو ہندوستانی برصغیر کے تصوف کے ساتھ جوڑنے کا کام انجام دیا۔

آپ اصولی طور پر سنی حنفی مسلک سے وابستہ تھے، تاہم آپ کے نظریات کو فنا کے صوفی نظریہ سے جوڑا جاتا ہے۔

آپ نے اس عقیدہ کے خلاف اپنی آواز بلند کی جس کے تحت یہ کہا جاتا ہے کہ خدا انسانی شخصیات کے ساتھ مل سکتا ہے۔

Ali Hajvery was a devout Persian Sufi scholar who lived during the Eleventh Century and was known a benefactor in dispersing Islam throughout South Asia.

Today, his mausoleum is one of Lahore's most-visited shrines and a very common destination for pilgrimages by Muslims.

An immense marble courtyard, a mosque, and a number of other structures surround the mausoleum, which is also one of the most prominent in Pakistan and throughout the Middle East.

The mosque that's located near his tomb is the one he built.

Hajvery was born around 990 CE during the Ghaznavid Empire in what is currently Afghanistan.

He was educated in Sufism and became an itinerant scholar, visiting many places around the Caspian Sea and the Indus River, encountering hundreds of Sufis, including many of his time's most illustrious Sufis, in the course of his travels.

Among the places he visited over his more than forty years of travel were Damascus, Syria, and Bayazid Bastami's Tomb.

He counted himself as a confederate of many of the subcontinent's most well-known Sufi sects.

Hajvery also served as a crucial intercessor for many Sufi Muslims.

Further, he is considered by many to be the one who linked Persian and Khurasan mysticism with mysticism in the Indian subcontinent.

He was technically a Sunni Hanafi, although his views were linked with the Sufi ideology of annihilation.

He spoke out against the doctrine that suggests God can be merged with the personalities of humans.

Instead, he compared annihilation to burning in such a way that fire-like properties are acquired while the person retains his own individual personality.
