Lizzy the elephant is based on a real WW1 elephant from Sheffield, The original Lizzie replaced horses in the war factories. She was a hero and icon. This Lizzie is also a hero and has spoken to tens of thousands of children, inspiring them that they can be a hero not by their words, but by what they actually do.
