Today’s episode is the first half of a conversation exploring the top five songs of 1994. This year was a seminal year in hip hop history as it saw releases from so many of the genre’s biggest artists, including the debuts of Notorious B.I.G. and Nas. 

We’re joined by our good friend Steve Tyson, a.k.a. Ellect, who helps us break down the best songs from this year and he brings along a top five list of his own. Ellect also has new music of his own coming out; his debut album, Intellectual Property, which he both wrote and produced, is dropping February 13th. And his lead single from that record “Degrees” goes live on streaming platforms today, January 27th.
