how the pet scams work. Lost Dog Scam - I lost my dog December 27, 2022 and posted on Neighborhood sites, and various groups for lost pets. Everytime I updated my post I would get 2-3 texts of "found your dog" then they would ask to verify myself as the owner and would be sending me a code from Google and to give them the code. The code would come in from Google with it saying not to share with anyone. I gave fake numbers and they would either curse me or not respond. I would also call the number and it would go on Text Voicemail. I would call it again and it would then be "no longer in service." The text messages began getting meaner with threats of harming dog. It is awful that there are people that would prey on people hurting. My dog is still missing.
