Rabeinu speaks about the dangers of falling into the “illusions of the heart” and the amazing things one can accomplish in using his sechel/ holy intellect. Rabeinu goes on to explain how it works when it comes to spiritual growth, or moving from level to level; he teaches us that every time one gets to a new level, he must first subdue the klipa of that level, better known as the strength of the imagination. In practical terms, this means that when one wants to grow, a person first has to encounter confusion, doubts, evil temptations, etc.

The way one is able to do subdue this klipa is through the awesome mitzvah of tzedaka, which reveals the greatness of The Creator. Another method is through being besimcha/happy for having merited to come close to G-d.
