Rabeinu teaches us that the essential way to give charity is to break one’s cruelty and to transform it into compassion.

Rabeinu then discusses how all the beginnings are difficult, and when one begins to do any act to serve G-d it is very very heavy, but charity opens up the way for this service and makes it easier to accomplish.

Rabeinu also talks about how the essential works a person needs to do to survive, like eating and drinking etc… is also considered Divine worship, and Rabeinu connects this idea to G-d’s loving kindness and the works of the Tabernacle.

Rabeinu also delves into the concepts of fear, ratzon/will, the holidays of Pesach, Sukkot, & Shavuot, the call of these festivals, those “philosophers of nature,” the forehead of the snake, length of days, the war between David and Goliath, and many other lofty ideas.
