Torah 54: Safeguarding Memory, Pt. 3

One must guard his memory and make sure not to fall into forgetfulness. Rabeinu explains that the essence of memory is to remember the world to come constantly, and to bind one’s thoughts to the world to come. This happens both in a general sense and a specific sense.

Rabeinu goes on to explain how G-d hints to every single person, every single day, ways to come close to Him within the thoughts, speech, and action of that day. If a person increases his holy intellect then he will be able to understand these hints, and serve G-d through the mundane involvements of this world. But there’s also the ability to serve G-d at a higher level, through performing the Torah and Mitzvot.

Rabeinu delves into the ideas of the evil eye, the strength of the imagination/illusions, the elevation of sparks/letters, the unification between the Tzadik and the Kneset Yisrael, creating a vessel, happiness, melody, etc…
