Torbay in Devon. It’s a quiet place. People move there for the silence and respite from the chaos of more crowded conurbations. It’s part of Torquay, but off the beaten track for the tourists and unexpected visitors.
The area even has a town cryer. A town crier is an officer of a royal court or public authority who makes public pronouncements as required. Through the centuries Town Criers have informed residents of emergencies and sundry other announcements, accompanied by his mighty hand bell.
