Torn Canvas, Beautiful Art
Wow, it's been a while since I got so absorbed in a story that I had to pause life so I could immerse myself in another world. It may have gotten a little ridiculous because I could not turn off the audible book. Instead of doing what I had scheduled for yesterday and today, I have been cleaning, decorating, driving, anything I could to keep the book playing on my phone! The book has some great, unexpected turns. I became a bigger fan with each chapter.
This is one I'll buy to keep on my shelf, and I may listen to it again! Loved the author's detailed descriptions, realistic, flawed, but good characters. I'm still on a high from finishing this great story. Loved it!
Tristan Hunt is Jori
What about Tristan Hunts performance did you like?
I read this book first and really enjoyed it but then had the opportunity to listen to it. I wasn't sure at first about the reader and thought his voice might have been a little over dramatic but I quickly found it engaging and slightly haunting and a great voice for Jori's deep internal struggles. It really became exactly the voice I would imagine for Jori through his struggle, opening up and eventual triumph. As much as I enjoyed reading this book, I enjoyed it even more the second time while listening.
Great story, excellent reader
I enjoyed this book and found it engaging from the first pages. The pacing was comfortable, the narrator Tristan Hunt's reading and voice easy on the ears. I especially liked the way he acted out each character's voice. The story unfolded comfortably, no rushing, no lagging. Although full of many relationships and subplots, it was easy to follow and to become engrossed in the characters. The hero, Jori, was well developed, as were the other main characters: Elle, Anna, and Olivia. I particularly enjoyed the characterization of Anna, Jori's elderly landlady, mentor, and benefactress. Torn Canvas is an excellent read, especially when listening.
