On today’s podcast, we hear from highly credentialed Strength and Conditioning Coach Ryan Plavin. And among other things I asked him, what can we do on land to make ourselves faster in the water?
Ryan has a Masters Degree in Exercise Science, specialising in S&C and works with high performance athletes across a number of different sports at Melbourne Fitness and Performance. He is the perfect person to find out how to make ourselves stronger and therefore faster in the water.
We chatted about whether you need to do specific swimming actions in your strength training to transfer to the water; the type and frequency of S&C needed as a mature swimmer; and what are the most important exercises to include in your program.
We really got down to the nitty gritty of strength training and the science behind it!
I hope you will enjoy listening to this episode and that you take something away from the chat that will help you with your swimming moving forward. Enjoy!
