What are the moral implications of torture?

The infliction of suffering on other humans, particularly in times of war, and more graphically as horrific acts of revenge or the like have happened across all periods of our development. There seem to be some points where people can clearly agree that certain things are acceptable while others aren’t, but there’s a large gray area where there is a lot of division and that’s the are we discuss in this episode. Are there circumstances where torture is ok? And further, even in the cases where torture is unarguably immoral, are there circumstances where its immorality is outweighed by the immorality that may happen if the it doesn’t happen? These questions are up in the air and we seek today to attempt to find answers through the lens of philosophy.
