DEVOTION –
-Love, Loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause.
DEVOTION – determines your FOCUS, FUTURE, & FAITHFULNESS.
GOD CALLS US ALL TO LIVE:
- TOTALLY DEVOTED.
(Exodus 20:1-6) (NLT) 1Then God gave the people all these instructions:
2 “I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.3 “You must not have any other god but me.
4 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. 5 You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. 6 But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.
(Acts 2:42-47) (NLT) 42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
*Most Christians have a DIVIDED LOYALTY.
(James 4:7-8) (NIV) 7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
- DAILY SURRENDERED.
(Luke 22:42)(NLT) Jesus prayed, “"Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine."
(Luke 9:23)(NLT) “Then Jesus said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
*Most Christians practice CONVENIENT SURRENDER.
